The Importance of Exercise for Seniors

As we age, staying active becomes more important than ever. Regular physical activity offers numerous benefits for older adults, from improving balance and mobility to supporting mental health and independence. At Empower Center Care, we encourage safe, enjoyable elderly physical activities that enhance quality of life and help our residents stay strong and confident every day.

Whether it’s a gentle walk, stretching, or a structured senior exercise workout, we tailor every activity to support our resident’s elderly physical health while fostering fun and social connection.

Exercise Benefits for Seniors

For older adults, movement is medicine. Physical activity also helps manage chronic conditions like arthritis, diabetes, and high blood pressure, while increasing energy and promoting better sleep.

These elderly physical activities are part of our resident’s everyday routine if they are able and capable of participating.

How Much Exercise Should Seniors Get a Day?

According to the CDC and health experts, seniors should aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week, ideally totaling 150 minutes per week.

That’s why our programs often include short senior exercise workouts spread across different times of day.

How Often Should Seniors Exercise?

The ideal routine includes a combination of:

It's important to choose exercises that are appropriate for current health levels and to consult a physician before starting any new program. At Empower Center Care, we tailor our elderly physical activity routines to meet individual needs safely and effectively.
